Context: This guide covers the actions that can be performed when different Reason Code values are returned from your stapling request. Within this article, we will detail how multiple funds can be configured for employees.
Stapling Scenarios
Scenario A: Fund Details Returned (Reason Codes 4 or 6)
Note: Refer to Enable Stapling Service to view the different Reason Code values

View the Employee Profile Details page after receiving a stapling response with Reason Code 4 or 6.
A green stapling response message will appear with a 'Dismiss' action. The returned fund will be labeled 'Stapled fund'.
Click the 'Edit' action in the Fund Choice task.
Options to remove the stapling fund and 'Add fund' will appear.
To add an additional fund, click 'Add fund' and complete the details.
Click 'Save' to finalise the changes.
Scenario B: SMSF Details Missing/Incomplete (Reason Codes 5 or 7)
Note: Refer to Enable Stapling Service to view the different Reason Code values
View the Employee Profile Details page after receiving a stapling response with Reason Code 5 or 7.
A yellow stapling response message will appear with an 'Add SMSF details' action.
Click the 'Add SMSF details' action.
The Add fund pop-up will open with the stapled response SMSF details pre-filled.

To complete the SMSF details: Fill in the rest of the SMSF details and click 'Add'.
The SMSF will be shown with a 'Stapled fund' tag. The 'Add SMSF details' action changes to 'Dismiss'. You can now add more funds.
To override with a different fund type: Switch to 'APRA' or 'Default' in the pop-up, enter the details, and click 'Add'.
The stapling response disappears. The 'Stapled fund' tag is removed. You can now add more funds.
Click 'Save' to finalise the changes.
Scenario C: No Fund Found/Default Recommended (Reason Code 8)
Note: Refer to Enable Stapling Service to view the different Reason Code values

View the Employee Profile Details page after receiving a stapling response with Reason Code 8.
A yellow stapling response message will appear with an 'Add fund' action.
Click the 'Add fund' action.
The Add fund pop-up will open with the Default fund option selected.
To add a Default fund: Select a default fund and click 'Add'.
The default fund will be shown with a 'Stapled fund' tag. The 'Add Fund' action changes to 'Dismiss'. You can now add more funds.

To override with a different fund type: Switch to 'APRA' or 'SMSF' in the pop-up, enter the details, and click 'Add'.

Scenario D: Error Response (Reason Codes 1, 2, or 3)

View the Employee Profile Details page after receiving a stapling response with Reason Code 1, 2, or 3.
A red stapling response message will appear.
Click the 'Edit' action in the Fund Choice task.
The red stapling response remains, and an 'Add fund' action appears.
Click 'Add fund' to add new fund details for the employee.

Click 'Save' to finalise the changes.
When saved, the stapling response and the option to request stapled fund will disappear.
